Budget-friendly holiday dating - A Daynna LifeWe all know the holidays can get crazy. With so much to think about and so many things to check off our to-do lists, sometimes it's easy to forget to regularly make time for those most important to us. Funnily enough, isn't that what the holidays are supposed to be about? In addition to the time-crunch of the holidays, it can also be a financially draining time. I'm going to share my favourite tips and tricks for holiday dating on a budget!

1. Grab a Holiday Drink from Your Favourite Cafe

Budget-friendly holiday dating - A Daynna LifeEveryone on planet earth knows how much I'm obsessed with Starbucks and their seasonal drinks. Their peppermint mocha is an absolute die-hard favourite of mine! I think when a lot of people think holiday drinks, they think of Starbucks, but it's not your only option! Personally, I don't love the holiday drinks from any of the other big chains, but small cafes often do seasonal drinks as well! If you're not a Starbucks fan or just want another alternative, I highly recommend checking out a local cafe with your significant other and trying out something festive. It'll put you and your partner in the festive mood and you might even find a new favourite coffee shop in the process! For a budget-friendly option, find a really great recipe on Pinterest (there are tons of them) and make something at home together!

2. Stroll Through Local Shops

Budget-friendly holiday dating - A Daynna LifeOne of my favourite things about this time of year is seeing the holiday displays that many of the local shops in my area go to the effort of creating. A lot of the time they'll put beautiful displays in their window, turning a walk down the main street into a festive wonderland! You don't even need to buy anything to experience this, which makes it a perfect budget-friendly holiday dating activity for couples trying to get through the financial stress that the holidays can sometimes bring. The best part? You can spend as little or as much time as you want on this date - it's totally yours and your partner's call!

3. Attend Seasonal Festivities in Your Area

Budget-friendly holiday dating - A Daynna LifeHow great is it to be able to take part in your community in a festive way? One of the awesome things about community organized events is they tend to be relatively inexpensive if not completely free. Whether it's the Santa Claus parade, a Christmas market, a holiday gathering in the town square, a festival of lights, or carolling fun, you can find a good festive time pretty much anywhere you go (believe me, I live in a small town and we still have a lot of these types of activities going on)! Holiday dating at its finest.

4. Binge Watch Your Favourite Holiday Movies

Budget-friendly holiday dating - A Daynna LifeI love binge watching holiday movies and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Every year, I make a point to watch my favourites during the holiday season. You can find a bunch of them on Netflix, or they also play on a schedule throughout the holiday season on certain channels. You might even have some on DVD! The point is that this is an affordable way to spend time with your significant other in a festive way. Plus, you can snuggle up and get cozy and warm, which is always a bonus!

Some of my all time favourite Christmas movies are Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas, A Charlie Brown Christmas, A Christmas Carol (the original, obviously), Elf, It's a Wonderful Life (again, the original is my favourite, be aware that it is in black and white), and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, just to name a few.

5. Do Your Gift Shopping Together

Budget-friendly holiday dating - A Daynna LifeSome of you might be rolling your eyes at this one, but hear me out. You both need to do gift shopping anyway, and you probably need some clever ideas for each others' gifts. Gift shopping might even be one of the things that's keeping you from spending as much time as you'd like to with your significant other. Why not go to the mall together and get some of it out of the way at the same time? I actually really enjoy doing this with Mike, as we've decided to work together on gifts this year. He's also incredibly difficult to shop for, so it's helpful having him there to point stuff out for me. That way, I can go back later and pick it up! It allows us to bounce ideas off one another in a productive way while still spending quality time together. What more could you want?

The Takeaway

Budget-friendly holiday dating - A Daynna LifeIt can be easy to forget what's important amidst all the hustle and bustle of the holidays. That being said, we need to remember that the holidays are about spending time with loved ones. It's absolutely possible to enjoy dating during the holidays with your significant other. In fact, there are plenty of unique dating ideas that aren't available the rest of the year, so we really should be taking advantage of them! Many of these holiday dating suggestions are budget-friendly, so you won't be breaking the bank.
